Fees

Consultations
We are a private billing practice. Medicare covers some of the cost of your consultations at the rooms however there will be an out-of-pocket component. Please ask our reception staff about our billing policy at the time of your appointment.

Chemotherapy day stay treatment
The administration costs of chemotherapy at the Mater Hospital are covered by your health fund (as you are admitted as a day-only patient), and no gap payment is charged.
N.B. Please ensure that you check with your private health fund that you are covered for a ‘Day only treatment’ in a Private Hospital. The relevant item number for this is #13950

Pathology tests
Blood tests undertaken with our preferred laboratory are usually bulk-billed when you are undergoing chemotherapy treatment, leaving you no out-of-pocket costs.

Pharmaceuticals
Chemotherapy and most other medication related to your treatment will be covered by the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). Other required supportive care medications dispensed by your local pharmacy will also generally covered by the PBS. From January 1 2020, you pay up to $41.30 for most PBS medicines, or $6.60 if you have a concession card.

Radiology
The costs depend on the provider and the type of radiology test you need. Ask the imaging provider at the time of your appointment to check whether you will have any out-of-pocket expenses.
